God is working powerfully in the prisons! What an exciting and encouraging thing that was to learn when I began volunteering at CLI with the Bible Studies. Getting to know some of these inmates has been so rewarding and is such a blessing to see them growing in their love and knowledge of God. Some of their testimonies have been so powerful in how God is changing their hearts and minds and thoughts and the boldness they have in sharing their faith in prison.

I have also been blessed with new relationships with the Staff and those who volunteer at CLI.

To God Be the Glory, Great Things He Hath Done! I am thankful to be a part of this ministry.

Inmate Decisions for Christ

Celebrate with us, and the new saints behind bars, who have made a commitment to Christ in 2010! These are the men and women who have specifically written to CLI this year and testified to placing their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior from one of our books, tracts, personal letters or other material. We praise God for His mercy and grace in calling sinners to repent, i.e. turn away from their sinful ways. We too are sinners saved by grace and acknowledge His grace and goodness.

With Love from Zambia

CLI received a letter from Nevison, a Death Row inmate in Zambia, Africa requesting our Bible study. We are not sure how he heard about us but we praise God for allowing us to take His Word far and wide across the ocean. We also praise God for keeping us “international!”

We enclosed Lessons 1-3 in a large envelope and mailed them Nevison in January. We received the completed lessons back this week! H writes:

“Brethren, how so thankful I am for the materials I was able to receive which you sent to me. I find all words too feeble to explain the feelings that have struck my heart. Your response to my request is so timely in that I will no longer be lonely. The materials will help me to know more about the Word of God which is a boost to me in my living here in prison. Any small help that you may afford to render it means a lot to me. The Lord moving His people to action surely whatever you do in Christianity is like sowing seeds of love of Christ and opening up doors that had long been closed.”

Large Print Bibles Arrive

God provided a couple of cash donations for Bibles recently! Yea! We decided to purchase several cases of large print Bibles for the inmates that we serve and they arrived today!

The majority of men and women are in prison due to drug related charges. Drugs affect eyesight in adverse ways and therefore we get a lot of requests for large print Bibles. It makes it easier for them to read God’s Word or perhaps it makes it possible to read altogether.

Some of the Bibles will go to individual inmates who request them and others will be included in boxes shipped to prison chaplains. The chaplains will be able to give them out to those in need of this special Bible. We pray God will use these Bibles to save the lost and encourage the saints. Amen.

Immeasurably More, Even With Paperclips!

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. NIV Ephesians 3:20-21

I drove to our bank in Knightdale today in order to made a deposit for CLI. Since we were running out of paperclips I asked if they had any extra that they were not going to be using. The banks get so many clips from bank deposits that they can’t recycle them all.

The teller said, “If you can come in, we will give you some.” “Sure,” I replied. When I walked up to the teller counter, she handed be a small box of paperclips. Now the box is small compared to book boxes but big when you consider all the tiny paper clips it holds.

“God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,” I replied. I thanked them and asked God to bless them! God supplies, and is with us in the small things as well as the large. We praise Him for both. Amen!

CLI at the VideoMakers Workshop

Here at CLI, we are always looking to do everything better and more efficiently. Video and Internet video like YouTube are becoming more and more main-stream. This weekend, we had the opportunity to attend a VideoMakers workshop to learn more about cameras, editing software and general photographic techniques.

Our CLI application is very simple, but the 100 or so attendees were from all over North Carolina learning how to add video to their churches to making full length feature films. The world is going video indeed!

We praise God for this new technology and the opportunity to tell the world about His love for all of us and the good news of Jesus Christ!

Blessings from Columbus

Would you conduct a Christian book drive at your church and contact several neighboring churches? Then collect all the books and drive them 900 miles to the CLI office? Well, Jim and Freda did - all the way from Columbus, Ohio, and all 29 boxes!

We praise God for the dedication of our book donors! They are such a blessing!
