Thursday, CLI got a warehouse tour of the Bob Barker Company. Located just outside Raleigh, Bob Barker is the largest supplier of prisons and jails in the US. They sell things like mattresses, clothing, shoes and even games.
We went to see how a large scale distribution warehouse works and to look at all their technology. We learned that every pallet has a bar code and a specific location. Everything can be easily located in the 100,000 sq ft warehouse - about the size of a super WalMart.
Attending were Kathleen Skaar, our host David Sears, CLI board member Todd Lamar, shipping leader Tyrone Miller, and Office Manager Jeremy Watson.
We saw wire guided lift trucks circulating in the stacks and an impressive automatic box taping machine we would love to have.
Kathleen even found a pallet of Monopoly board games.
